Cold season again .... Free Ginger Lime Drink Recipe

Since we all have colds right now, I thought I'd pass on a wonderful dairy-free recipe that I got from a friend.  It is supposed to help fight off colds and sinus infections:)  (For more free recipes, visit my website:  www.milkallergycompanion.com  You can also get a sneak peak at my cookbook.)

Ginger Lime Drink

2 limes (pulp, zest, and juice)
3/4 c sugar
1 - 2 tsp. of fresh ginger root (peeled and left whole)

Peel ginger and smash with the back of a spoon.  Place in the bottom of a large pitcher.  Add lime juice, pulp, zest, and sugar.  Add 2 quarts of water.  Mix well.  Leave ginger root in the bottom of the pitcher.  Serve cold.  This natural remedy really helps fight sinus infections, but is delicious for the whole family:)

Hello, I can't believe I am reading all this! I was just told at our last visit, that really it is very rare to be allergic to milk and that probably my daughter is not. Here's my question: After several ear infections and anti-biotics, I gave her Culturelle, a probiotic. I choose a pro-biotic that had no lactose, but did contain milk casein. The diaper rash that followed last THREE weeks, until we tried triple anti-biotic ointment. The docs insist there is no connection. What do you think? My daughter is 10 months old and taking Nutramigen, which also contains a very broken down form of milk casein. Could this be causing the repeated ear infections? She just had tubes put in two weeks ago, and we go tomorrow to see the ENT to check for an infection, even with tubes.

I can't believe no one mentioned this connection!!!

I'm not a doctor, however, I've learned that we don't know everything. She could've been allergic to the probiotic itself, or it could be as a result of the casein. The milk causes extra mucus and if her eustachian tubes are small this may block the mucus from draining, thus resulting in an infection. I was shocked when our ENT told us to take our son off of all dairy as well. (He is in Frederick, MD) All I can say is that it wouldn't hurt to try it out for a month and see what happens.

I don't think it is that rare to have a milk allergy. After testing, both myself and my partner were diagnosed with it. After cutting it out, we both lost weight, feel a lot healthier and have noticed positive changes. Woe betide us if we have it though, for me it gives me wind, for my partner, he gets bad stomach cramps.
